Things you can practise by yourself
Part One
- Search for typical questions
- Imagine what you would say if you were asked this
- If you can work with a friend, then be examiner and student
- Record the conversations, analyse and repeat to improve
Part Two
- This is better practised by yourself (unless you can get good feedback)
- Pick a topic, speak, record yourself, analyse and criticise, record again and improve – keep doing this with the same topic until you are happy
- Now pick another topic and repeat
Part Three
- Practise like part one
- Work on more advanced vocabulary and structures
- Consciously try to make your answers more sophisticated – but don’t memorise and don’t forget about the question
- Imagine yourself in the exam producing the very best language you have – how would that sound?
- Now record it and see how it sounds!
Pronunciation
- Listen and repeat
- Try to get as close as possible to the original
- Record yourself doing it and then compare with the original speaker
- How can you improve it
- Do it again, and again, and again until you are happy
