I often speak about procrastination – putting things off.
When preparing for IELTS and also doing IELTS exercises, it’s important to realise what is important and what is just a distraction, so that you can really focus on what will help you achieve your band in the exam.
Making sure you know exactly what to do is the key to IELTS.
And making sure you are well-prepared, confident and have the English language skills that you require is the ONLY WAY to get the band you want
Watching webinars and videos like this one is great, but they are ONLY a fraction of the story. What is really important is putting the information into practice in your preparation. Knowing is NOT ENOUGH, you have to make sure you practise everything well too.
And you need to practise a lot to get everything going automatically so that on the day of your test you will hit the band that you want.
Unless you do, things won’t change much for you! Or it will take a very long time to improve.
Practice takes time and you have to do it regularly.
Hence my message on procrastination – stop putting things off, get started and follow through every day with your practice – no excuses!!
Some teachers say that it will take a year of study to move up one band. That means that if you are scoring 5.5 and you need 7.5 it will take 2 years to get it. In actual fact if you have the right help and support and the correct mindset you can improve your score much faster.
By yourself it WILL take time.
So if your exam is coming up soon and you want to make sure that you are doing the right things and getting the right scores, or if you have lots of questions about IELTS that you can’t solve, then try to get the right help and support that will explain all this to you.
