Trying to decide whether to tackle the test or not?  Undertaking the International English Language Testing System can be a time consuming and challenging adventure, but with our help and some hard work on your part you can make your dreams come true.  This test can open many doors to you.  Here are some of the things that these tests are accepted for.

Work

Why Take the IELTSMany countries where English is a main language require that applicants to professional registration opportunities provide evidence of English fluency.  The IELTS is accepted as this evidence in some countries and in some organizations.  Some of the countries with organizations that require the IELTS for professional registration may surprise you, places such as; The United Arab Emirates, Australia, New Zealand, British Columbia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Egypt, and many more.  Some of the professions requiring English proficiency are jobs such as Finance, Accounting, Tourism, Energy, Government, Healthcare, Law, Engineering, and many more.

Study

why take ieltsThere are two tests accepted for study purposes, the IELTS Academic and the IELTS General Training.  For more detailed information, check out this article.  In short, the Academic test allows the taker to study at undergraduate or postgraduate levels at Universities and Institutions where English is a primary language.  The IELTS General Purpose allows the taker to study or train below degree level, such as for occupational training.  It is always good to check with the specific University, College, or Institution that you are interested in to see what they require.

Migration

why take the ieltsThere are a few countries that require evidence of English fluency when applying for many different visa categories and for permanent residency.  Australia accepts the IELTS for different visa applications and for application for permanent residency.  Canada accepts the General Training test for immigration into the country as well as for a work visa, permanent residency, and some professional requirements.  New Zealand requires the IELTS for many visas including Skilled Migrant, Investor and Entrepreneur, Residence from Work, and Parent categories.  The United Kingdom requires evidence of English Language proficiency and accepts IELTS when applying for permanent residence.
